Common Chemical Name Hydrochloric Acid 28-36%
Synonyms Muriatic acid, spirits of salt.
Chemical Formula HCl / H2O

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
Main Hazard - Corrosive.
Causes burns. Irritating to respiratory system. Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eye Contact

Immediately flood with copious quantities of water holding the eye open if necessary.
Obtain medical attention urgently.

Skin Contact Immediately wash with water, preferably under a shower, removing contaminated clothing while washing proceeds. Continue washing for at least 10 minutes.
Obtain medical attention if blistering occurs.
Contaminated clothing should be washed before re-use.
Inhalation Remove from exposure. Keep warm and at rest. If there is respiratory distress, give oxygen. If respiration stops or shows signs of failing, apply artificial respiration.
Obtain medical attention.
Ingestion Wash out mouth with water, give plenty of water or milk to drink.
Do not induce vomiting.
Obtain medical attention urgently.
Note for Doctors Harmful by ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact.
Local corrosive effects predominate.
Low systemic toxicity.
No specific antidotal treatment, symptomatic support required.
Following significant inhalation, observation for 48 hours to exclude delayed lung damage is required.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing Media Not applicable.
Hydrochloric acid is non flammable and non explosive. Containers should be kept cool with water. In contact with metals the highly flammable gas hydrogen may be released. Water or dry powder may be used on fires in the vicinity of Hydrochloric Acid. Full protective clothing and breathing apparatus should be worn.
